Rossco’s Ride Reasons

Hi all:

By participating in the Great Australian Bike Ride it will mean the completion of a two long-held personal goals; to ride my bike in parts of Australia I have never visited and to raise money for a worthwhile charity like Australian Rotary Health by participaing in an organised community event.

It will also give me plenty of time to reflect on what I want to be when I grow up!

104 days on my Cervelo bike

I will be riding from Darwin to Perth (some 4584 kms), then across the Nullarbor to Adelaide (4039 kms) and for the final stage, along the Murray River and into Melbourne (a mere 1256 kms).

It will mean camping in some remote places and riding long straight stretches of outback roads. I expect to meet some real Aussie characters along the way & make a lot of lifetime friends.

Sponsorship

If you would like to support my fund-raising efforts, please go to the Great Australian Bike Ride website (www.greataustralianbikeride.org.au) and select ‘sponsor a rider’ and choose my name from the drop-down menu. I hope you can help me raise plenty of money for a very worthwhile cause.

See you on the road!

  2. Fantastic to have seen you guys all here in the heart of the port for brekky this morning (24th July), before you head east (yes, east) to Karratha and on south for the last half of your amazing journey! Keep the rubber on the road, and bum off the bitumen – wishing you an awesome celebration in Melbourne 10th October! Thanks Port Hedland Rotary crew, and the WA Country Health Service Mental Health team for the assistance with brekky today – a great turnout!

    • Thanks Julie for your great hospitality while we were in Port Hedland…it was a terrific way to start the day. Regards to Mayor Stan & the other supporters & we are now in Karatha for a few days to recover. Cheers Ross
